The situation
The situation JCB, the great British brand with illustrious heritage, was looking at how to communicate their latest sustainability achievements. As we talked, we sensed something deeper: a brand with incredible strength – innovation, quality, British manufacturing heritage – but with key disciplines operating in silos. Brand, Sustainability, Digital, PR, and Creative weren’t fully connected.
They had a strong sustainability vision (Think Eco / Efficient Design / Community), a tradition of philanthropy and genuine product leadership. But the story wasn’t cohesive. The potential wasn’t fully realised.
The Superhelpful moment
We asked permission to do something unpaid: run our Sustainable Brand Engagement Index across all five business disciplines. We wanted to truly understand where the disconnects were — and more importantly, where the opportunities lived.
They gave us access to their directors. We invested our team’s time in comprehensive one-to-one structured meetings, 15 sets of questions around the drivers changing the communications landscape. We analyzed, plotted results, identified gaps, and looked for what was already there but not yet connected. Then we presented back.
We showed them the gaps. But more importantly, we showed them ‘Jamais content’ — their own founding principle that means ‘never satisfied.’ The relentless pursuit of better. It wasn’t just about products. It was about developing better engineers. Building better communities. Creating better businesses. Better places for their products to flourish.
It was the thread connecting everything: brand, sustainability, innovation, purpose. During the presentation, one of the directors had a tear in his eye. We’d helped them see their own brand’s full potential — what was always there, now unified.
The work and evolution
We didn’t just audit disciplines — we reconnected them. We showed how ‘Jamais content’ could transform sustainability from a communications challenge into a brand purpose that drove everything. How their heritage of never being satisfied could inspire re-connection throughout the business.
The comprehensive analysis revealed consistent gaps and highlighted opportunities to inspire alignment across Brand, Sustainability, Digital, Creative, and PR. We provided communication ideas with strategic statements and visual direction to address the connectivity opportunities. Following the presentation, JCB asked us to advise on communicating some of their most impressive sustainability achievements.

What this reveals about how we work

Architects of transition: we helped JCB evolve from disconnected disciplines to unified purpose — showing them what was always there, now aligned around ‘Jamais content.’
That’s what superhelpful looks like to us.
